For a safe working environment
A respectful and safe working atmosphere forms the basis for successful collaboration and healthy working relationships. Threats and violence in the workplace, on the other hand, undermine trust, create a climate of fear and can lead to considerable stress.
Violence can take various forms: verbal threats, psychological pressure, physical assault or subtle intimidation.
Supervisors and HR managers have a crucial responsibility to identify and prevent incidents of violence and to create a corporate culture that protects personal integrity.
Threats and violence do not usually appear suddenly – they develop gradually. Early warning signs can include repeated verbal aggression, hostile behaviour amongst employees and/or escalating conflicts. Noticeable changes in the behaviour of individual employees – such as increased irritability or social withdrawal – can also be warning signs.
Take every report seriously and act immediately. Document the incident, talk to those involved and clarify the situation objectively. If necessary, consult the in-house security service or Movis counsellor.
After an incident of violence or threatening behaviour, it is important to create transparency and reassure employees. Communicate openly about the measures that have been taken and offer support, for example through internal contact persons or the Movis Employee Assistance Programme. Strengthen trust in the team by taking targeted measures to promote respectful interaction.
An incident of violence is a critical event with far-reaching consequences. Please refer to our recommendations for crisis management.
